Congratulations snipers!
Connecticut’s first dedicated Sniper Challenge went off without a hitch on the 27’th with even the weather cooperating for the competitors. With a mix of snipers hailing from diverse backgrounds (the furthest traveling from Philadelphia) the stage was set for some shooting drama. The first event (Stalk) lasted two hours and went to Jason Pressler who hit a perfect score giving him the early lead. The second event (Field Fire) fell to Ian Kosky, which put him in the lead as many good shooters found difficulty placing high scores for the stage. Event three (Stressfire) required a hill run followed by an awkward shot off a barrel against a close target; Mark Dressel nailed it with a perfect score to win the stage. Event four (Urban Hide) allowed the snipers to choose their own supported position to take a shot off a loose pile of timbers, again Ian Kosky came through, this time with a perfect score which moved him out of a 5-way tie and into the lead. The final event (Physical Challenge) proved to be difficult for all, a climb up the “Beast”, our 50-foot high rope climb. With rifles slung on their back each competitor scratched their way up as high as they could. Cheers went up as Ian Kosky came within mere feet of finishing the entire climb, earning a win for the stage and sealing his first place finish for the entire competition!
